Healthy Kids, Healthy Families®

Our Healthy Kids, Healthy Families (HKHF) grant program was created to improve the health and wellness of children through community investments by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico. The HKHF program began in 2011 as a three-year initiative, but is now a signature program of our company. It is part of our ongoing commitment to invest in and partner with nonprofit organizations that offer sustainable, measurable programs to reach children and their families. These programs focus on nutrition, physical activity, disease prevention and management, and supporting safe environments.

The Healthy Kids, Healthy Families program recently expanded its nutrition focus to address the hunger needs in our state. BCBSNM partnered with and provided grants to four New Mexico food banks in each quadrant of the state to help children and their families who are experiencing food hardships. Grants were provided to Casa de Peregrinos in Las Cruces, the Community Pantry in Gallup, the Food Bank of Eastern New Mexico in Clovis, and the Food Depot in Santa Fe.
