Volunteer of the Year
Our Volunteer of the Year award celebrates BCBSNM employee volunteers’ dedication to community service. It provides employees the opportunity to nominate outstanding volunteers and coworkers for their dedication to the community through volunteerism.
Michelle Hawthorne was chosen as the 2013 Volunteer of the Year for her tireless commitment to the community. Michelle has volunteered with American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, and BCBSNM initiatives such as Adopt-a-Family, Operation Back to School, and the Adopt-a-Senior Holiday Giving Campaign.
Michelle’s commitment has also provided money to the different organizations through BCBSNM’s matching dollar program. In honor of her service, Michelle was awarded a $1,000 donation to give to a nonprofit organization of her choice. She selected Special Spaces, a nonprofit organization that redecorates a seriously ill child’s bedroom.
